 Special Events
Over the years, we have hosted Comedy Nights, Poetry Readings, Book Clubs and, of course, Tea Tasting Sessions. We exhibit the artwork of our local artists with the co-operation of the Tarrytown & Sleepy Hollow Arts Council. We have even had Tarot Card Readings! And they are all fun!
Tea Tasting Sessions
Several times a year, we hold a Tea Tasting event. It is an opportunity for customers to sample 4 – 5 different teas, learn about their origin and history, compare tasting profiles and discuss similarities and differences between and among various selections. Sometimes we throw in an impromptu quiz (we know we should make these more difficult!) and give away prizes for the correct (or almost correct!) answer. Refreshments are included for the entry price and for many of our customers, this has become a regular outing! It is a great way to spend an evening - learning something new,
enjoying good food, meeting new people and even walking away with a prize!
Fun Events
As the year unfolds, we keep pace with the calendar and match our festivities to the occasion.
We offer our special St. Valentine's tea on February 14, we celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a
'Green' menu and Irish specialties. Irish Breakfast is on prominent display during March.
Our biggest day of the year is, of course, our Mother's Day Special Afternoon Tea service.
Typically, we have 3 seatings and include a special gift for each Mom. We love that day
and evidently, our patrons do too. We usually sell out every seating. Before the official
holiday season comes our Anniversary in November and we throw a party with games,
raffles, specials and sales. Comedy Nights, Tarot Card Readings and other nifty events
are sprinkled through the year.
Catering and Parties
Because we are a small Tea house, private parties always pose a dilemma. If we close the
restaurant, we inconvenience our regular patrons; if we don't offer our Tea Room for parties,
we disappoint those who want to celebrate at our establishment. We've tried to find a middle path
by offering Saturdays from 4 to 6 pm during the summer as our party slot. Catering orders,
however, are no problem and have increased ten-fold in the past several years. We offer
garnished, plated trays of our great food and all you have to do it invite your guests.
We provide sandwiches, sweets, desserts, salads and even tea. Please consult our
Catering Menu for details and we're always glad to customize a selection for you. |

Thanks to everyone for playing! We had hundreds of votes and picked our 3 winners who have already been in to collect their prizes. We're tallying the most popular tea and we will offer it on sale during November.

LOYALTY HAS ITS REWARDS
Like many retailers, we have a Loyalty Card. At first, we used a paper product but earlier this year, we launched a plastic Loyalty/Gift Card. It rewards our customers for visiting us frequently and also makes a nifty gift. Upon receiving a card, each customer fills out an enrollment form which requests name, address, phone number, e-mail and a birthday month. After several months of issuing these cards, we have now collected a nice little stack of these cards and last week, we decided to take it one step further.
Not only do we give $15 free dollars after a set amount of points, we have decided to pick one lucky customer each week and add 100 loyalty points to their card. Today, we called the Wilson family and gave them the good news!
So as our loyal customers reward us with their vists, we are giving them an extra bonus. In these tough times, a little unexpected cheer goes a long way.

GOING GREEN....
1. We're proud to announce that Silver Tips is now using 100% GREEN POWER -
a combination of Wind Energy and low-impact Hydro Energy.
2. We've replaced all our light bulbs with energy-efficient ones through
a partnership with our local energy company.
3.  We're now using 'Ecotainer' sample cups. They are compostable and
perfect for greening our Tea Room. These hot cups have an inner lining
made from 100% corn whereas conventional paper hot cups have inner linings
made from petroleum. Also the paper comes from trees that were harvested
sustainably and the cups are elemental chlorine-free.
4. Although we have made many strides in our journey towards being more socially
responsible, there are still many areas we can influence little if at all. After much
research, we decided to partner with Carbonfund.org whose motto is, "Reduce
what you can, offset what you can't". Our contribution will be used for renewable
energy, reforestation projects and energy efficiency.
