Tea Tasting at the Greenburgh Library, Feb. 20
Our sincere thanks to our hosts - this was a well-attended event and even more remarkable given that it was a freezing morning. Our Tea event today was a part of their Tea & Cooking series. I covered some background on tea and today's focus was on How to Choose a Tea. Using a pictogram, I walked the attendees through 3 tea samples - Afternoon Delight, Pi Lo Chun & Green Dew.
We talked about identifying and explaining tastes - grassy, toasty, sweet, sharp, mellow - and encouraged them to try different teas using this knowledge. We closed the session with a non-caffeinated Rooibos blend, Serengeti.
We handed out a simple quiz, several prizes and a coupon that was valid for a Free pot of tea at Silver Tips until the end of March.
On the sign-up sheet we asked all the attendees to tell us what their favorite tea was. The answers were varied - Green tea, Oolong, Earl Grey, Orange Spice, Blueberry herbal, Chai, Chamomile, Lapsang Souchong, English Breakfast, Rooibos, Cinnamon, Roasted green tea, Scottish Breakfast, Irish Breakfast and Mint. Thanks for taking the class and see you at Silver Tips!
