Storing tea

Can you store tea in a glass jar? Easily one of the most common questions we get. The short answer is No. Tea needs to be stored away from light, air or moisture. Many tea establishments will use triple-insulated bags or canisters to package their tea. Either is good. Stay away from tea houses that store their tea in glass or plastic jars. After a while the tea takes on an ashen look and deteriorates faster.

And don't put your tea in the refrigerator either. Some herbs should be stored in the refrigerator but no teas. And in our book, tea is anything from the Camellia Sinensis bush - black, green, oolong, white, pu-erh....
