The Fancy Food Show was again in town and we walked the Show all day yesterday. First, the decline in traffic was obvious. Just as we observed this sad trend at the World Tea Expo, we noticed it again at Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan yesterday. Second, we noticed chocolate was now ubiquitous. We are seasoned tasters, though, so we very quickly differentiated the good from the great.
The decline in traffic worked in our favor since each vendor was able to spend time with us, showing us what was new and we didn't have to fight through crowds to navigate the aisles. We were looking for new sweet items and a few excellent savory items. Happy to say we think we've found both. We will now taste all our samples, contact each suppplier to figure out minimums, shipping policies and case sizes and starting this Fall, you should see some new things.
