Sticky Toffee Puddings

In 2004, Tracy Wilkinson-Claros, the founder of The Sticky Toffee Pudding Company moved from England to the USA to introduce artisan British hot puddings to America.  Well, she certainly succeeded.  When we met her at the Fancy Food Show a couple of years ago, we were quickly convinced that we had to carry them at the Tea Room.  All these puddings are hand-made in small batches - we carry 3 varieties - The Original Sticky Toffee which is soaked in a buttery toffee sauce, the Warm Chocolate Almond which is sinful, and the wonderfully light but decadent English Lemon which was the winner in the 2007 Specialty Food Trade "Outstanding Baked Product" category.  This little bit of pleasure has a lemon curd sauce made with freshly squeezed lemon juice.  Tracy's story is an encouraging one because Whole Foods believed in her product enough to give her a low-interest loan which allowed her to invest in automated machinery which immediately expanded her capacity.  We serve her puddings warm of course as  English puddings should be enjoyed and I guarantee you will be back from more!  They are $4.50 and can be ordered individually as dessert or as part of our Deluxe Afternoon Tea service.  And yes, you can purchase them to take home.
