Today is Rajah Banerjee's birthday - the owner of Makaibari. I sent him a chocolate cake (yes, one can be in the U.S. and order chocolate cakes to be delivered to India!) and I am told it was enjoyed to the last morsel. This year, Rajah was at the garden for his birthday and my sister, Srirupa (Rajah's wife) organized a dinner party in celebration. In attendance were some guests staying at Makaibari as part of the HomeStay programme, some of their friends as well as tea estate managers. May there be many more happy returns of this day, Rajah.
