Makaibari 1st Flush 2025
Couldn't load pickup availability
Makaibari First flush Darjeeling is prized. It is the first harvest of the year, in the Spring. Our carefully selected batches contain all the desirable characteristics of an authentic first flush - greenish hue to the leaf, sharp, clean, floral taste. Savor the spirit of the Himalayas as soon as you open the bag!
First Flush is the cherished crop of Darjeeling, called 'the champagne of teas". These are are the early picks of the year, slightly astringent, with an underlying fragrant tone to the cup. A short steep recommended. Enjoy the spirit of the Himalayas - Organic, & Biodynamic. For other Makaibari teas, click here.
Light, floral, refreshing. I drink it anytime of day.
Normally I'm an Assam girl, but when this year's Makaibari first flush tea came out, I was intrigued, and thought I'd give it a try. I am officially a fan! It's crisp, clean and flavorful. The taste is rich and complex enough for my morning cup. Definitely best without milk, so all the flavors can find full expression.
Steeping Instructions
Use 1 tsp. tea leaves per 8 oz. cup.
Pour boiling water over leaves.
Steep 2.5 to 3 mins.
Milk is not recommended.
Tea Education
After the bushes have been dormant all winter long, the first showers around February or March stir the bushes and the early spring leaves produce a glorious leaf. The first day of plucking on the estate is called Paila Patti (First Leaf) and celebrated with gifts to workers and a blessing of the estate and season ahead. 1st flush is astringent - crisp and sharp - and enjoyed best at a short steep without milk or sugar. The infused leaves have a distinct greenish hue, a mark of quality, sometimes mistaken for a green tea which is incorrect. For those who need slightly more body to their Darjeeling, 2nd flush or Autumnal would be a better option. 1st Flush is my daily cup all year round.

I would have wept if this delicious tea had landed up in the harbour and not in my teapot. Delicious full bodied tea. Truly a party in my pot, cup and on my tongue.
These refillable tea leaf filters are very helpful to contain the leaves, allow the tea to brew safely and then to dispose of the leaves with no fuss after they have steeped for the requisite number of minutes, you know before the tannin forms and makes the tea bitter.
I ran out of my CTC Organic Assam tea and was so happy to see the box arrive on my doorstep! I was slumming it with tea bags - horror!
I love the robust flavor of this Assam tea. It is great in the morning, throughout the day, and is a star when I host a Tea Party!
I have been shopping with Silver Tips Teas for years and they are always prompt, precise, and timely. I can't see going anywhere else for my tea supply needs!
What a creative blend featuring chai! The cardamom and ginger spice layered with the subtle sweetness of the chocolate round out this chai in a way that only makes perfect and absolute sense. It truly is a testament to Silver Tips’ magic in curating their blends. An absolute treat for fall!
What can I say! My friend who also grew up local to Silver Tips recommended this as her favorite blend from Silver Tips. The blue flowers in this make this so special and beautiful. An absolutely breathtaking London Fog this makes for, too!! Fantastic as a cold brew tea for those of us sensitive to the caffeine levels of hot tea. Please continue making this for as long as you can!
This is a sensational offering from Silver Tips and is a testament to the reverence with which the and their partners craft their teas. I’ve never tried form this estate before and it is a beautifully bodied black tea. Thank you!
Thank you Silver Tips for this broken black tea resort on the wonderfully classic breakfast blend! It has become a staple and actually makes for a wonderful cold brew tea for those of us sensitive to the caffeine levels of hot black tea. Also love adding maple syrup & milk for the experience of being in the gorgeous northeast! I am thankful to experience your offerings from afar!
Thank you Silver Tips, Anupa & the team that makes this phenomenal blend possible!! Growing up I was local to Silver Tips and it is an immense privilege to be able to experience their offerings once again through their online shop after moving. This makes for a sensational cold brew tea with a subtle yet potent and steady caffeine boost throughout the day— this is my daily tea now! I have been brewing 2 tablespoons per quart of cold filtered water in the fridge nitty for 12-16 hours, depending on the strength you like, in a mason jar filter (you can also brew loose, just strain the water after). The vanilla flavoring paired with the black tea addition makes this one of a kind. The aroma is wonderful. Thank you so so much!! I hope you can continue offering this blend for years to come!
Silver Tips teas are always if the finest quality
I have only bought cheap teas off the A word and I am very upset with myself for never trying you till now. This is the best tea I have ever tasted hands down
This is my all time favorite tea. It smells and tastes wonderfully.
This has become a favorite after receiving a free sample and then ordering some more, which is now all gone! Some chai with clove in it is overwhelmed by that strong flavor, but here the balance is perfect. There is a hint of clove if I look for it, and the pepper is pleasantly noticeable. A nice addition on my tea shelf beside the original Silver Tips chai.
A lovely, medium body tea, good any time of day!
Every time I need the best service and the best tea recommended by the most caring and knowledgeable person, I call Silver Tips and the owner takes care of me herself...Truly a Delight!!
