Tea in the USA

The Tea Association of the USA just published a Fact Sheet on how we consume tea in the USA - quite illuminating:
  • 160 million Americans are drinking tea on any given day
  • 85% of tea consumed in America is iced
  • 80% of households in the US have tea in their kitchen
  • In 2011, Americans consumed over 65 billion servings of tea
  • Prepared at home, tea costs about three cents per serving
  • Black tea is still the most consumed - 85%; Green 14% and Oolong 1%
In the past 5 years, there have been 5,649 studies on tea.  Tomorrow I will publish the major findings on the health benefits of tea.
