Closing the Tea Room...but not the website...

The Silver Tips Tea Company has a thriving online presence as well as an actual Tea Room serving Breakfast and Lunch in Tarrytown, NY.  Effective April 2018, I have decided to focus on our growing online business as well as our wholesale company, and I will be closing the Tea Room in Tarrytown, NY.  Even though I have excellent staff and procedures in place, ownership brings with it specific responsibilities and I have struggled to balance my load in the past few years. My family is overseas and in recent years, I have had to travel abroad frequently to take care of obligations. My wholesale tea business, Eco-Prima Tea, located in Elmsford, NY has also grown and become more complex and time-consuming with larger clients & new regulatory requirements.

It has been a glorious ride. We have loved providing a moment of repose to our many friends and customers over the years. We have seen families grow, celebrated all your special moments, made life-long friends, received gratitude and compassion from so many. We’ve also introduced so many of you to Tea. The Silver Tips Tea company and brand will not end. We will continue our thriving online and mail-order business along with Eco-Prima Tea, our wholesale tea company. We’re only closing the Tea Room which requires a degree of attention, detail and innovation I will be unable to provide.

If you’ve formed an attachment to our many Teas, we will still have all of them. You can call or e-mail us and get refills. And you can always order online. For those who have the Silver Tips Loyalty Card, please note the information listed below.

For the next few weeks, we will be offering our full Menu and no changes will be made to our Hours of Operation. We will be offering all our Loose Leaf Teas and Teaware at a discount starting immediately. If you’ve had your eye on a Teapot, Tea Mugs, Cups/Saucers, Canisters or Tea, this is your chance. Our last day that we will be open to the public will be Sunday, March 25, 2018.

And finally, I have been singularly blessed with capable and conscientious employees throughout the 18 years. They have been your friends and shown you hospitality and sincere affection over the years. I know they have left a mark – on your life and mine. Please visit us over the next several weeks and let them know how much they will be missed. I thank each of you for your kindness over the years. I am easily reachable by phone or e-mail. And we’re not leaving the area – our tea business and offices and warehouse are close by and we will continue to be a part of this community we call home.

 If you are one of our loyal customers who has been accumulating points on your Silver Tips Tea Room Loyalty Card, all is not lost.  If you can, please try to visit the Tea Room by March 25, 2018 which is the last day we will be open to the public.   If you have enough points that can be redeemed, (250 points needed to redeem for $15 or 500 points for $30*) please use them at the Tea Room by March 25, 2018.  No additional points can be accumulated after March 25, 2018. 

If you are unable to redeem your Loyalty Points at the Tea Room by March 25, 2018, we will honor them towards the purchase of Loose Leaf Tea or Teaware available on our website  You have 3 ways to do this:

  1. Call us at 1-877-ECO-TEAS or 914 930 8892 and give us your tea order and your Loyalty Card number. Once we verify you have the necessary points to redeem, we will be happy to apply them towards your order.
  2. E-mail us your tea order at with your name & address and include your Loyalty Card number as well as a contact telephone number. Once we verify you have the necessary points to redeem, we will be glad to apply them towards your order.
  3. Order online at and indicate at Checkout in the ‘Notes to the Seller’ box that you are a Loyalty Card holder and include your Loyalty Card number. Although placing an online order will require you to pay upfront for the order, we will be happy to manually discount your order by $15 or more*.  The discount will be applied once we verify you have the necessary points to redeem and when the order has been fulfilled.  The discount will be reflected on our Shipping Confirmation e-mail (not on your Order Confirmation e-mail).

Please note that the online Rewards Program for our website customers will not be affected in any way.  This notification is to provide an avenue for those holding a physical, plastic Silver Tips Tea Room Loyalty/Gift Card (pictured above) after we close the Tea Room.

The Silver Tips Tea Room Loyalty Card also doubles as a Gift Card.  If you have a plastic Silver Tips Gift Card that was previously valid only at the Tea Room, we will honor it online.  Just use any of the 3 methods listed above and we will be glad to help.  We are always ready to help should you have additional questions. 
*Loyalty Card Terms and Conditions: 250 points can be redeemed for $15.  Points can only be redeemed in multiples of 250. No partial redemptions are permitted. Following the closure of the Tea Room, no additional points can be accumulated on this Loyalty Card after March 25, 2018 & points then can only be redeemed for Loose Leaf Tea and merchandise available at Points cannot be combined with any other offers or promotions.

    Tarry Chicken….any Way to get the recipe????

    I was one of your first customers…I am so sorry to hear the news of your closing
    Anupa, I do you recall the High Tea you did with me at the Jewish Home in the Bronx? That turned into a tradition! You all made Jenni and I feel so welcome. I got to bond mother daughter over a cup of tea for 18 years. You all comforted me when she grew up and moved. You shared in my joy when she recently returned. I will miss the peaceful Haven you created in s busy world.
    Wishing you all the best of luck as life hands you a new challenge and adventure. The adventure is in the journey not the destination.Thank you for making my journey joyful !

    Too bad! I only visited once from out of town and was so impressed with the quality of the teas served I’ve been a loyal online customer ever since. So sorry I won’t get another chance to see you all in person.

    as you said, my family has celebrated many things in your shop over the years. I will sorely miss your wonderful offerings! No one makes SCONES like Silver Tips! and I loved your finger sandwiches too. My family was 100 miles away, nothing like your distance, but still difficult to manage. I wish you much peace in your heart as you transition to your next calling. All the best for your future!

    Dear Anupa,
    I was at you first lecture about the culture of tea and all its aspects. I won a price that day, a bag of Darjeeling first flush, and I have been using the knowledge from that lecture ever since. Your place was one of my favorites in town, the only source of tea in my home, and it will be hard to look at the place where it used to be. I will definitely be one of your online customers, and I wish you all the best in all your endeavors. Thank you for being part of Tarrytown!
