Make Every Day Earth Day

Hard to believe it is almost 50 years since the concept of Earth Day was introduced.  On April 22, 1970, about 20 million Americans took to the streets in answer to Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson's call for a "national teach-in on the environment".  His partners in this effort were Republican Congressman Pete McCloskey and Denis Hayes from Harvard.

Fast forward to 1990 when a group of environmental leaders requested Denis Hayes to lead another big campaign. Many of us remember that day when 200 million people worldwide in 141 countries participated in efforts to boost environmental issues globally.  In 1995, Senator Nelson was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom - the highest honor given to civilians in the United States - for his leading role as the founder of...

Chai - A Feel-Good Drink

Chai is like a cup of cocoa – comforting, warm and relaxing.   In summer, it’s a tall cold glass on a hot day, a perfect alternative to a milk shake. The ideal Chai should be rich, creamy with the fully developed taste of Tea, Milk & Spices.  It shouldn’t be too watery or sugary-sweet.  Often this is what you find...

All You Need Is Love!

All You Need Is Love, but a Little Chocolate Now and Then Doesn't Hurt. - Charles Schultz

Valentine's Day  - that day of romance with hearts and flowers and, best of all, Chocolate!  It's one of life's little luxuries and pairs well with Wine, Fruit and even Tea.  A luscious bit of chocolate followed by a sip of tea is a silky sensation.  And Tea blended with Chocolate is a combination often overlooked.

Pumpkin & Spice & Everything Nice!

Pumpkin flavors are everywhere. Some stores started offering their Pumpkin Spice items as early as August. Dunkin' Donuts launched theirs on August 4th. Starbucks followed in early September. We tend to wait until October when the leaves actually start to turn and our towns of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow become wonderfully orange. Even the street signs are in orange. The Headless Horseman lives again. Washington Irving awaits. October is our time.

So we've brought back our very popular Pumpkin Chai, Green Pumpkin Cream, and of course, Pumpkin Scones at the Tea Room.
