Named after the birthplace of Oolong in Jiangxi province. An naturally smoky oolong. One of the best known from China. A brief 15 second 'washing' followed by a short 1 - 2 minute steep results in the best cup. Multiple infusions encouraged. A great accompaniment to food.

Mellow and smooth

I have been really digging this tea this month; so much so that I finally ran out and needed to buy another bag. I adore this tea’s mellow, smooth flavor, which seems to change a bit with each sip. Having only had bagged oolong previously, I had no idea it would become my favorite but it has!

Oolongs are so versatile. And they taste even better as they cool. Glad you've discovered this gem.

Tea Education

Wu Yi Oolong is in the classic shape of a long curled leaf that resembles a Black Dragon (Oolong). Oolongs vary in their range of oxidation and can result in a green (light oxidation) to a dark brown (longer oxidation). Wu Yi is a highly oxidized Oolong and more smokey and less floral than lighter green oolongs. They often have the characteristic stout style of leaf. Tastes associated with this style of Oolong are woody and thick with roasted notes. We recommend multiple short infusions for Wu Yi preceded by a technique called "washing" to remove some of its woody qualities. The distinct early flavor and smokiness makes this an Oolong to be enjoyed with meals and in the evenings. Second and third infusions are extremely pleasant.
