After a wonderful flight on Jet Airways from New York via Brussels, I arrived at Delhi around 11 pm and checked into Vasant Continental Hotel, midway between the international and domestic airports. At that time of the night, the hotel upgraded me to a suite....which of course I couldn't put to use....and promised to wake me in the morning for my 10 am flight the next morning to Makaibari. I noticed that everywhere there were fresh cut flowers. This particular hotel had an old-world quality to it with terra cotta mosaic, doormen in gorgeous uniforms and architecture that resembled the Moghul forts and mosques found in Delhi, Jaipur and Udaipur.
