Morning tea at Makaibari

Makaibari is a heritage site - 150 years next year. Its traditions are old, its magic is palpable, its history unique. Each day I could hear the chowkidar ring the bell at 5 am, see dawn's first light arund 5.10 am and have my morning tea delivered by the attentive staff at 6.30 am.

The view from my room was spectacular and the garden outside an oasis of calm and beauty. Makaibari's flower garden is renowned, now a riot of roses and sweet william, later filled with the famous Kurseong orchids.
