I have a new respect for all those trying to conduct business at Makaibari. Do we even remember the days of dial-up? And how would you like your wires fried every time there was thunder and lightning? And power going out and returning like the ebb and flow of tides?
As amazing as it is to see people on bicycles and rickshaws all over India with cell phones, it is just as amazing to realize that in the land of Call Centres and booming markets and thriving commerce, there are still pockets of utter technological backwardness.
Here is Rajah managing his empire from a machine that is rudimentary at best. And another where technology is at its most marvellous. In the middle of the estate, deep amidst tea bushes, there he is communicating with a buyer in Europe!
Normally I'm an Assam girl, but when this year's Makaibari first flush tea came out, I was intrigued, and thought I'd give it a try. I am officially a fan! It's crisp, clean and flavorful. The taste is rich and complex enough for my morning cup. Definitely best without milk, so all the flavors can find full expression.
Vayu blend is one of my favorites of Silver Tips Ayurvedic herbal teas. It's fresh and aromatic with a smooth, silky finish. And who can resist those tiny rose buds?
