Prince Charles on Organic Farming
Some of you may know that Prince Charles is a keen environmentalist and organic farmer and champions many causes devoted to sustainability. Earlier this week, he spoke at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., at a conference entitled "The Future of Food" where he challenged the notion that organic farming cannot feed the world. For those of us who are advocates of organic agriculture, we oppose the theory that GMOs (genetically modified organisms) provide the greatest hope in feeding the world's growing population. The alternative - organic agriculture - not only addresses the issue of food shortages but is also good for the planet. Prince Charles highlighted a key study illustrating the high yields organic agriculture can achieve. Hear more of his keynote address here.
