Wild Life in India

Read in the Times of India ths morning:
A wild male elephant that forced its way through the jungles and into the city entered the premises of the Deepatoli cantonment of the Indian Army here on Sunday shocking all.  Army men were taken aback when they saw an elephant sitting inside the cantonment area when they woke up in the morning.
Happy to report that they did call the Divisional Forest experts and after dusk, when the crowds had subsided, they did manage to direct the elephant to safety.  "We were out of breath when we saw a huge elephant standing at my gate", said one of the officers.    My sister informs me that this is quite a normal occurrence in Darjeeling on the way to the tea estate (where, incidentally, there is another army cantonment.....do Elephants have a natural affinity towards the army?).Well, I don't think I'm going to complain about the racoons getting into my garbage anymore.
