Thanksgiving weekend opened horribly with a terrorist massacre at the Taj Intercontinental Hotel in Bombay (Mumbai). Many of you know I went to school in Darjeeling but not many of you know I used to work for the Taj Hotel and following that, worked for a multinational whose offices were at the Taj. I know every nook and cranny of the hotel and spent almost five years of my life there - happy, wonderful, eventful years. So it has been a terrible few days.
The weekend ended on a special high note though. Today is one of the busiest travel days of the year and with the added rain and sleet, the roads were a mess. While I was at the tearoom today, a customer who had ordered a sandwich for pick-up, kept calling us on the phone reporting her travel progress and checking with us to make sure we didn't close before she got there. After about the third such call, I couldn't help but wonder who it was that was braving these roads and weather conditions for a sandwich. When she finally arrived, she declared that she loved our Mediterranean Sandwich and that she absolutely positively had to have it and that she had driven over 20 miles to indulge her fancy. We were closing up for the day and we were awed by her dedication so we added a Do-Goodie Chocolate Fudge Brownie to her order just to make her long trip home worthwhile. Thanks Dinine for being such a loyal customer and we hope the trip was worth it. You certainly made my weekend.
Normally I'm an Assam girl, but when this year's Makaibari first flush tea came out, I was intrigued, and thought I'd give it a try. I am officially a fan! It's crisp, clean and flavorful. The taste is rich and complex enough for my morning cup. Definitely best without milk, so all the flavors can find full expression.
Vayu blend is one of my favorites of Silver Tips Ayurvedic herbal teas. It's fresh and aromatic with a smooth, silky finish. And who can resist those tiny rose buds?
